I BE BACKKK
I’m back! Ireland was an alright trip, I enjoyed travelling with my cousin and my Irish relatives are (as always) a good laugh
The weather wasn’t brilliant; it rained most of the time and was very cold, but that didn’t stop us jumping into the sea/lakes/rivers… I must have swam so much that holiday!
Not a lot has happened in the world of Nintendo since I left, although I have seen some advertisments for the Wii Motion Plus, which I reviewed a while back. It looks pretty good, but I’m still unsure as too whether it is worth the price tag – which Nintendo didn’t actually mention on their adverts
Anyways, I’m back and I hope you didn’t miss me too much while I was away. More nintendo news and facts coming soon!
I’m off

Cream Crackered
I just got back from footie training tonight and its obvious that I’ve not been doing enough exercise as of recent, I’m shattered. Hopefull start going for jogs again soon, accompanied by the occaisional sit-ups/push-ups.
I’m gunna start replacing my mars bars with chin-up bars…
Don’t worry, even I cringed at that pun
I’ve not got Wii Fit, I’ve got a similar sort of game for the Wii, something like it but without the Wii Fit Board. I tried to use it once and I felt like a complete tard. I’ve never used it again for fear of looking like an idiot… which was £20 well spent. NOT.
Mario Kart Wii Review – [Controls/Gameplay]
There are a variety of ways to play Mario Kart Wii. There is the most obvious way, which most people see as the most “Fun” way… and it is simply the Wii Wheel. You just jam the WiiMote into the wheel, and away you go. Twist the wheel for directions and the buttons are in charge of weapons, acceleration, skids, etc. Its fairly difficult to master, but all in all, the most entertaining mode of controls! Other controls include using the WiiMote and Nunchuck, the Nintendo Wii Joypad thing… (Which SUCKS btw) and it also works with the old gamecube controller.
The gameplay… is… immense. There isn’t any feeling quite like blasting Mario with a green shell, right before racing past him to take 1st place in the last seconds of a race. Nintendo introduced some new weapons in the Wii game, including my favourite, the Mega-Mushroom (or something like that) and it basically makes you bigger… allowing you to go faster and crush all the other puny players! [Insert evil laugh here]
The tracks are all brilliant, there are parts of each track that will throw you off a cliff, give you a sneaky shortcut, or blow you to smithereenes (I think that’s the right spelling). Difficulty varies… right up to the universally accepted as the hardest track; the beast that is Rainbow Road. If you get Mario Kart Wii, you will love every second you play on it, I can guarantee.
Mario Kart Wii Review – [ Graphics ]

I love this game. OMG I really really do. I’ve never owned a Mario Kart game before… I’ve played it on the old Nintendo 64 console and on the Nintendo DS – but I’ve never actually owned the game. I loved playing on both of the older versions, but I gotta say this is just as good, if not better than them. Nintendo have really pulled it out of the bag with this game – the graphics, gameplay and online play are all top-notch.
Now, when you compare the Nintendo Wii with its rivals, the xBox 360 and PS3, the graphics are one of its drawbacks. It doesn’t come close to them in the specs and as such, if any nintendo game is designed to look “realistic”, it will not be as asthetically pleasing as a PS3 or xBox 360 game. Mario Kart has been so successful and looks so good, because Nintendo knows of this drawback and has designed the game in line with this. Its not just a PS3 game, flung onto a Nintendo console, its actually a game designed and optimised for the Wii! By that I mean it is “cartoony” and the designs are just incredible. It looks like a dream and in the next review, I’ll tell you how well it plays too
Now enjoy some of the spectacular screenies :p

The Nintendo DS – Beautiful on the Inside
I recently purchased a brand new, Nintendo DSi in London. It was a part-purchase, part-exchange, as I payed about £20 as well as giving in my old DS lite.
My first impression, when I got it out of the box was… “urghh”. I though (and still do actually) that it looks ugly. I can’t put it plainer than that. Of course, you should never judge a book by its cover… but when its a games console/gadget that costs upwards of £120, I’d expect it to like nice. The look of my old DS Lite was beautiful in my eyes and I don’t know why they couldn’t have left it like that.
However… upon opening up the beastie-looking thing, I discovered that its true beauty lay on the inside! The menu system has changed to be more “Wii-like”, with a row of boxes containg all the options, as well as empty ones for possible game downloads from the new online store. You can now enter in and out of games/settings without having to restart the DSi… which is nice too!
All in all, I adore the new DSi, the online feature is constantly updating and the features such as the camera & sound/picture editor just enhance it further! DSi FTW in my book, but a prettier outer shell wouldn’t be a bad thing Nintendo
(Hint, hint)
Wii Play Hits 10mill!
The nintendo wii exclusive game, “Wii Play” – which features a collection of nine entertaining & interactive ”minigames” has finally passed the 10,000,000 mark in units sold, since its release 2 years ago in Feburary. Following this acheivment, lets have a little look back at the success of Nintendo Products over the previous year.
The actual Wii consoles sales were up over 70% early last year, with both the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS becoming the top-selling gaming systems of that year.
Its not only the hardware that was doing brilliantly last year either… half of the Top 10 games of last year were nintendo made, including the hugely popular Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii/DS & of course, Wii Play. A total of approx 1.5 million of these games were sold.
Lets hope that Nintendo continue in their creation of brilliant and innovative products, as well as high quality games. The huge sales of seperate Wiimotes suggest that the Wii is fast becoming the social gaming system – in reality & online.

Wii Motion Plus – Is it worth it?
So… the soon-to-be-released nintendo accessory “Wii Motion Plus” has gotten quite a lot of attention recently. It promises vastly improved gameplay, due to an increased amount of accuracy & recaction time when rendering movement in a 3D space.
